The story centers around a 35-year-old man who has become a quadriplegic a couple years before, and the 26-year-old woman who was hired to be his helper. The book is deceptive. The story line seems simple, the characters a bit predictable. Until the last 100 pages or so, I thought the book was good but not compelling. Then, with about 100 pages to go, the story really got going. By the last 50 pages, I was carrying the book around with me, reading at red lights. For a couple weeks after, I couldn't get it out of my head. The questions it poses can be dissected and debated forever. I am leaving this review intentionally vague. Read the book.
